The São Pedro eating house is one of the most typical restaurants in the Algarve capital. The space, with its wooden tables and long benches, has a welcoming and informal atmosphere. The traditional Algarvian fare benefits from the ‘experienced finger’ of Manuel Moreira Miguel who, all on his own in the tiny kitchen, is the real soul of the place. We began with sea-fresh clams, served steaming from the skillet – with big hunks of toasted, home-made bread. Fresh seafood, such as sole, salmon, cuttlefish and squid, is a house speciality. Alternatively, the grill is always ready for a variety of meats. The house wine goes beautifully with everything.

Specialities: Grilled fish, prawns, flambé, pepper steak, Algarve cataplana; Wines: Vinho verde on draught, and a selection of Alentejo wines; Opening times: everyday from midday to 3pm and 6.30pm – 11pm.
