In the middle of Faro, not more than 50 metres from the central railway station, there is an old restaurant which ironically calls itself ‘Adega Nova’. Here lunches and evening meals emerge from a true Algarvean kitchen. Never forget that in the Algarve, women are the best cooks! Particularly good are the house specialities: Caldeirada de Peixe (fish stew), Massa com Lingueirão (pasta with razor clams), Feijoada de Buzinas (bean stew with sea-snails) and Feijoada de Chocos (cuttle-fish and bean stew with sweet potatoes), all almost impossible to find anywhere else.
