Restaurante Triângulo dos Sabores

The invitation here came from Luís Carlos (from Inside Villas), a client and friend of long-standing - and I found myself surprised that I hadn’t found this place before, and hadn’t been able to share its discovery with our readers.
The “Triângulo dos Sabores” opened its doors in March 2010 - and husband and wife duo Silvania and Jorge Martins should be congratulated. In a small but cosy space they’ve managed to create a refuge where you can find quality at a reduced price.
The décor is modern and in good taste, and the menu is put together at the beginning of every week. In other words, it’s possible to lunch here on Monday, and be ready to return on Friday! And for €5 they always offer a meat or fish dish.
The chef is Portuguese but spent many years in Belgium and has brought with him, aside from perfect French, a definite savoir-faire in French cuisine. For this visit I chose the fish (poached ling) which came beautifully-presented with par-boiled vegetables.
But the biggest surprise came at the end when I was served my “tarte tatin” with homemade vanilla ice-cream. I don’t think I have eaten anything so good since my last trip to France! As I enjoyed the wickedly delicious dessert, I couldn’t resist reading the upcoming menu for the week ahead. On Thursday there’s Chicken Couscous…I’ll be there!
Cost: €14 for 2 people; Cards: Multibanco/ credit cards; Parking: Yes!
