«Limpar Portugal» sweeps the Algarve

«Limpar Portugal» (PLP), the big “clean-up operation” scheduled for 20th March and powered by volunteers from north to south of the country, already involves hundreds of supporters in the Algarve.

In all, the region boasts eight local groups - in Olhão, Faro, Almancil, São Brás de Alportel, Loulé, Albufeira, Portimão and Lagos.

Right now, these groups are deciding on the route their clean-up will take – just six weeks away.

They are making GPS-reference points of the various dumps to deal with and identifying the type of rubbish in them, so that they can work out how to remove it.

Only in Faro, the city group made up of more than 200 people has already identified several rubbish “black spots” – 60 sites in all have been confirmed as dumps for various types of refuse.

Of the 52 with GPS reference points in the borough of Faro, 43 are in the pine forest of “Ludo”.

Anyone interested in signing-up for this ground-breaking initiative, can
