Monchique “forgotten” by Government

The Social Democract Party (PSD) of Monchique have declared their “perplexity over the fact that, once again, this borough is being “punished” by the Socialist Government” regarding “PIDDAC” - the programme for investment and expenses in the development of central administration.

In a press release, the PSD say it’s an oversight that compounds “desertification of the Algarve’s interior, the ageing of the local population and serious social inequalities”.

“Not one cent of PIDDAC money is scheduled to be invested in Monchique. Not even one of the 53 or so million euros that the Government contemplate for the Algarve; not even one of the almost three thousand million euros that they’re planning to spend nationally”, stress the party.

“In an area that still lacks so much, this blatant disregard for Monchique is incomprehensible, unacceptable – which is why, beyond its indignation, the Municipal Group of the PSD shows its support for all Monchique residents, and the Town Hall executive committee, which together have to struggle against this latest adversity”.

The release is signed by Monchique PSD party member João Amado.
