Algarve Diocese backs the Internet

The Algarve Diocese continues to use the Internet as a tool to reach more people.

After creating profiles on Twitter and Facebook, the Diocese announced last week the launch of their “newspaper” site «Folha de Domingo» - a general information portal aimed to deliver the Catholic Church “to the world”.

The relationship between the Catholic church of the Algarve and the Internet goes back to 1999, with the creation of their first website. Later, other online innovations were introduced - with parishes being connected via special software. The latest development is the website of «Folha de Domingo».

It will be complementary to the Algarve Diocese Portal created in 2007 – a site dedicated exclusively to information on the church. In this new website, the idea is to give information on current regional, national and even International news. Also new is a section to display books, records and films, as well as a section for photos from the church archives. Very soon, there will also be blogs available. One will be for invited guests only, and the other an open forum for all.
