Electric cars plug into Forum Algarve

Edition 594 (24 Sep 2009), No Comments »

It’s the first commercial centre in the country to support green energy for private cars. At Forum Algarve, anyone with a battery-powered car can now charge it for free. EDP’s «Watt Drive» point for electric vehicles is part of a national network that aims to increase freedom, autonomy and comfort for users of these environmentally-friendly vehicles – and the Algarve has thus become the first region offering this service. “The incentive to use electric vehicles – with the objective to reducing environmentally polluting greenhouse gas emissions – has resulted in the introduction of a national network of charging points, which will give these vehicles greater freedom and mobility. Forum Algarve is now part of that network,” a spokesman for the company running the centre said in a statement recently. The centre’s «Watt Drive» is located in the outside car park, next to the motorcycle parking stands. Free charging is available to anyone who enquires first at the centre’s information desk during the appropriate opening hours.
