Cavaco frets over €8.000 monthly pension

President of the Republic Cavaco Silva has managed to upset almost everyone by complaining on television over cuts to pensions, saying that his two - from the CGA (“Caixa Geral de Aposentações”) and Bank of Portugal - won’t “pay his expenses” - which will now have to be topped up by savings he’s made during his 48 year marriage!

Even so, the Head of State estimates that he’ll still be receiving €8.000 per month! His declarations provoked a wave of indignation throughout all political parties, and across social networking sites – particularly considering that he has consistently lectured Portuguese people on the “necessity” for making sacrifices during times of austerity…
