Bills will be increasing the most in Castro Marim – where they’re set to double this month due to a new tariff for sewage treatment. In Lagos also new prices coming into force this month will mean a 20% increase on last year’s bills.

In Albufeira, the increase is in the region of 18 – 20% and in Portimão, the new charges mean at extra 8.39% on water bills, 4.2% on street cleaning and 13.75% for sewage treatment.

In Tavira, increases are 4.8%. In Olhão, 3.8% and in Faro increases have yet to be confirmed, but are expected to be in the region of 5%. In Loulé, the municipality has failed to set any new tariffs but will be required to “update” charges for 2012.
