UGT-Algarve wants plan to combat unemployment

The idea is for an open debate - involving other unions, employers’ and business associations, as well as public institutions, local authorities and the University of the Algarve - to “reflect together on current policies for employment, training and social protection of the region’s unemployed”.

The objective is to propose a concrete plan to the Government. The Algarve was one of the regions in Portugal with the highest unemployment in the second and third periods of 2011. “A situation that is certainly going to get worse” – particularly due to the instability of tourism, and the collapse of the building sector.
