Vandals attack A22 toll gantries

The first, on the Albufeira-Loulé stretch was attacked in the early hours of Monday morning. Two CCTV cameras were shot out, and the cabin with computer hardware, next to the gantry, was destroyed by fire.

The incident – which also damaged ventilation grills - took place around three o’clock in the morning but the toll logging equipment remained operational. Hours later, on Tuesday evening, a Euroscut worker was injured when vandals shot at the repair vehicle he was driving to the Algoz/ Guia gantry. The worker had been called because of a fire started at the gantry some minutes previously.
